In March 1948, North Central defeated Bremerton 42-37 in Seattle to win the Washington State High School Basketball Championship. The captain of that 1948 championship team was Tom Perko. Tom graduated that spring and went on to earn his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Stanford University.
Tom began his career with IBM in California in 1957. In 1964 he returned to Spokane as Vice President of Washington Trust Bank. He was promoted to President in 1979 and served in that position until 1990. Tom was President of Washington Financial Corporation until 1995.
He served as president of the Washington Bankers Association Board of Directors. Tom sat on the Washington Trust Bank Board of Directors and was chairman of the Seaport Citizens Bank in Lewiston.
His community involvement included the Sacred Heart Medical Center Board of Directors and being past chairman of the United Way Board of Directors.
Tom passed away on December 30, 2015.
