With a perfect 4.0 grade point average, Steve was one of four valedictorians in North Central’s Class of 1967. He went on to Washington State University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in English, before completing his graduate studies at Stanford University.
Steve began his career as an architect by working full and part time for three different architectural firms in the Spokane area. In 1978 he joined Northwest Architectural Company, where he currently is the managing principal partner of the Spokane office.
Steve has worked on the design of several new area high schools, including Mt. Spokane, Central Valley, and University. His company has also overseen the remodel of Mead, Rogers, Shadle Park, Ferris, Lewis and Clark, West Valley, and Deer Park High Schools.
For 13 years Steve served on Spokane Park Board, presiding as president for three of those years. Since 2007, he has been president of the Spokane Public Schools Foundation. He is also on the board of directors for the North Central High School Alumni Association Educational Foundation.
