Peggy Gazette spent more than 35 years in the development and advancement of women’s physical education and athletics. After graduating from North Central High School in 1942, she attended five colleges, including Washington State University and Whitworth College. She received her Ph.D. from Ohio State University.
Professor Gazette taught at Eastern Washington University for 21 years, primarily as head of women’s physical education programs. Her career at EWU, which began in 1966, saw her serve as women’s athletic director and director of the Health, Physical Education and Recreation Graduate Program in addition to her duties as professor. In 1982 she became Professor Emeritus. She also served as Chair of the Northwest College Women’s Sports Foundation for three years.
Peggy Gazette was recognized for her many contributions to women’s athletics in 1998 when she was inducted into the Eastern Washington University Athletic Hall of Fame.
